What you will do

You will own the books for the business. You do the month end close, you post the journals and you make sure the trial balance is clean before it goes anywhere.

You do the recons every month. Bank, debtors, creditors, VAT and the general ledger. If something does not balance you find out why and you fix it, you do not park it.

You prepare the monthly management accounts and you explain the numbers to the managers who do not work with numbers all day. You help build the budget and you report on how the business is doing against it.

You handle the VAT returns, the PAYE and the year end audit pack. You work with the auditors and you answer their questions.

You must be able to work to a deadline. Month end does not move.

What you need

•

BCom in Accounting or a similar degree

•

Completed articles or at least 3 years in a full accounting role

•

Experience on Sage, Pastel, SAP or Xero

•

You know SA VAT and PAYE rules

•

SAIPA or CIMA is a plus

•

Strong Excel, you can work with pivots and lookups
