How we look after your information.

Next Job is built to help you find work and be treated fairly. Part of that is being clear and honest about the information we hold and what we do with it.

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information Next Job collects, why we collect it, who can see it, and the rights you have over it. We follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). If anything here is unclear, you can always email us and ask.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to connect you with work. Depending on how you use Next Job, that can include:

Your account details: your name, email address, and phone number.
Your CV: the details you give us when you build your CV, such as your work history, education, skills, languages, and a short about section.
Your applications: a record of the jobs you apply for and their status.
Your messages: the messages you send and receive with employers on the platform.
Basic usage information: things like which pages you visit, so we can keep the site working well.

Why we collect it

We use your information to run the platform and help you, specifically to:

Create and manage your free account.
Build your CV and let you apply for jobs with one tap.
Show your CV and application to the employer whose job you applied for.
Let employers reply to you and message you about a job you applied for.
Send you updates about jobs, and important notices about your account or applications.

Who can see your information

Employers you apply to

When you apply for a job, that employer can see your CV and contact details so they can consider you and reply. They can only see the applications for their own jobs. They cannot browse everyone on the platform.

Next Job (us)

Our team can access information where we need to, to run the platform, keep it safe, and help you when you ask. This includes reviewing message conversations for quality and safety, so we can act if someone is treated badly.

Nobody else

We do not sell your personal information. We do not trade it or hand it to advertisers. Your details are here to help you find work, nothing else.

The rules employers must follow

When a business registers on Next Job, they agree to protect the privacy of every person who applies. This is a condition of using the platform.

Employers may not sell, trade, or misuse anyone's personal information.
Employers may only contact you about a job you actually applied for. No marketing, no unwanted messages.
An employer who breaks these rules can have their account closed, their job listings removed, and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

How we protect and keep it

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe and to limit who can access it. We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as we need it to provide the service and meet our legal duties.

If you close your account, we remove or anonymise your personal information, unless we are required to keep some of it by law.

Your rights over your information

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

See the personal information we hold about you.
Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
Ask us to delete your information and close your account.
Object to how we use your information in certain cases.

To do any of these, just email us and we will help. You can also edit much of your own information directly in your account at any time.

A note on staying safe

Next Job is always free for job seekers. You should never be asked to pay to apply for a job. If anyone asks you for money to apply for a role you found here, do not pay, and please tell us so we can look into it.

Changes to this policy

As the platform grows, we may update this policy. When we make an important change, we will update the date at the top and, where it matters, let you know.
